Oddballs' is situated on the edge of Chief's Island, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta. The camp is accessible by light aircraft only and is a 20-minute flight from Maun. On arrival you will be met at the airstrip and welcomed to the island. Accommodation is in dome tents set on elevated wooden decks, and shaded by reed shelters. Each tent is equipped with mattresses, bedding, pillows and a light. Beautiful outdoor showers and ablutions are shared.

The central bar and lounge area has comfortable chairs and sofas, and a raised viewing deck overlooks the sweep of the delta – the perfect place to sip a sundowner and watch the sun set over the palm trees, and view whatever wildlife may be visiting.
Activities are conducted by your own professional guide (a maximum of two guests per guide), a man of the swamp, born and bred. He has a mokoro (dug-out canoe) in which he will take you to nearby islands, where you will walk to view game and the spectacular landscape that is the Okavango. It might also be possible to visit his village, meet the elders and perhaps his family.
Activities at Oddballs’ include guided game walks on Chief’s Island in the Moremi Game Reserve and mokoro excursions. Kubu Lodge overlooks the Chobe River in the north-eastern corner of Botswana, 2km from the historic meeting place of four countries Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe, only 9km from the Chobe National Park.
On the doorstep of the world famous Chobe National Park, and only an hour away from the mighty Victoria Falls. Kubu Lodge is an ideal place from which to explore this fascinating region.

Every effort is made to ensure constant peace and tranquillity.
The thatched restaurant with extended balcony offer panoramic views of the Chobe River. Tasty, fresh home cooking is served for all meals and a bar service is available.

The sun is strong and can catch you unawares especially while you are on the water - take a hat and plenty of sunscreen!! Mosquitoes are always around, although they are worse from November - April during the summer. Take suitable malaria prophylactics (consult your doctor), plenty of repellent and some light coloured long trousers and shirts for the evenings.

You will need stout, comfortable shoes for walking, as well as neutral coloured clothing. Winter night temperatures can fall quite low and a jacket or fleece is essential, as well as a warm sleeping bag. A raincoat is recommended from October - April. Bring a book and a relaxed attitude for those hot summer afternoons or cool winter evenings, as well as binoculars, a camera and a torch. We can sometimes charge video camera batteries for you, depending on cloud conditions and office power usage. All power is provided by solar panels.
    CAMPING AT ODDBALLS BOTSWANA

The Okavango is a labyrinth of lagoons, lakes and hidden channels covering an area of over 17,000 square km and the largest inland delta in the world. Trapped in the parched Kalahari sands it is a magnet for the wildlife who depend on the permanent waters of this unique feature.

Sometimes called a 'swamp', the Okavango is anything but. Moving, mysterious, placid, gentle and beautiful, from a wide and winding channel it spreads through tiny, almost unnoticeable channels that creep away behind a wall of papyrus reed, into an ever expanding network of increasingly smaller passages.

These link a succession of lagoons, islands and islets of various sizes, open grasslands and flooded plains in a mosaic of land and water. Palms and towering trees abound, throwing their shade over crystal pools, forest glades and grassy knolls.

The Okavango's water is remarkably clean and pure and this is almost certainly due to the fact that it passes through very sparsely populated areas on its journey from Angola. Despite this, a staggering 660 000 tons of sediment a year are delivered to its great alluvial fan.

The overall length of the Delta from the border to the Thamalakane River is a little under 300kms and so the core of the Delta is approximately 200km from end to end.
    Wildlife
In the lush indigenous forests of the delta and its islands, and along the floodplains spawned by this great marriage of water and sand, more than 400 species of birds flourish.

On the mainland and among the islands in the delta, lions, elephants, hyenas, wild dog, buffalo, hippo and crocodiles congregate with a teeming variety of antelope and other smaller animals - warthog, mongoose, spotted genets, monkeys, bush babies and tree squirrels.

Although fishing can take place anywhere in the Delta, if one wants it 'big, mean and fierce', the deeper and faster waters of the major fishing camps in the north of the Delta, in the Panhandle, are probably a better area.
